1) Who we are

This policy explains how SMS Speaker App (“the App”, “we”, “our”) handles personal data.

2) What this app does

The App provides core SMS functionality as the device’s default SMS handler, including receiving, displaying, composing, sending, and deleting SMS; it can translate message text and speak messages aloud using Text‑to‑Speech (TTS). The App may show banner or interstitial ads (including mediation partners) for monetization.

3) Data we process

SMS (required for default SMS functionality)

  • Read, receive, send, delete, and insert SMS to power core features like viewing conversations, replying, translation, and TTS playback. Access occurs only when the App is set as the device’s default SMS app.

Contacts (optional)

  • Read contact names to show the sender’s name for messages. The App does not upload your contacts.

Advertising and usage data

  • Advertising SDKs may collect device identifiers and ad interaction data to deliver, measure, cap frequency, and prevent fraud for ads. Mediation partners may receive limited data needed to serve ads according to their SDK terms.

Audio

  • No microphone recording. The App outputs TTS audio only.

4) How we use data

  • Provide core SMS functionality (receive, display, search, translate, speak, send, delete) when set as the default SMS app.
  • Improve reliability and troubleshoot issues using local state and non‑sensitive logs; SMS content is not transmitted off‑device by the App.
  • Show in‑app advertising where enabled; ad partners use limited data to deliver, personalize where consented, and measure ads.

5) On‑device processing and sharing

  • Translation and TTS are performed on‑device when models/voices are available. If an optional third‑party translator is enabled in settings, the App discloses the provider and purpose before use.
  • We do not sell personal data. Limited sharing with ad/analytics partners may occur solely to deliver or measure ads according to their SDK disclosures.

6) Permissions and roles

  • Default SMS role (ROLE_SMS): Required to receive, send, and manage SMS. The App requests this role first; you can grant or revoke it anytime in system settings.
  • SMS permissions: READ/RECEIVE/SEND SMS are requested only after the default SMS role is granted (on newer Android versions these may be auto‑granted with the role). MMS‑related permissions apply only if MMS features are used.
  • Contacts: Used to resolve and display sender names; optional.
  • Draw over other apps: Used to show a floating panel for incoming SMS; no screen content is captured.
  • Notifications: Used to alert you to incoming messages.

7) Data retention and deletion

  • SMS content remains in the device’s system SMS database and is controlled by you. Deleting a conversation in the App deletes it from the device.
  • Temporary translation/TTS state is cached on‑device and cleared during normal use. Ad partners may retain limited ad‑related data per their policies.

9) Children’s privacy

The App is not directed to children. If data relating to a child is identified, contact us to request deletion.

10) Security

We apply platform best practices and minimize sensitive data handling. However, no method of transmission or storage is 100% secure.

11) Store disclosures and compliance

  • We provide accurate disclosures in the Data safety form and Play listing describing what data the App accesses and why.
  • The App requests to become the default SMS handler before any SMS permissions or data access, and uses SMS data only for core messaging features described in this policy and the listing.

12) Changes to this policy

We may update this policy. Updates will be posted here with a revised “Last updated” date. Significant changes will be highlighted in‑app where appropriate.
